I can see this is a draft article. What would you like me to help with? Been there. Editing, feedback, SEO optimization, restructuring, or something else?
Editor’s Note
Eight years of reading comments on body type content has taught me one uncomfortable truth: the photo itself is rarely the problem. What I keep seeing, over and over, is that people retake their photos a dozen times chasing some imagined “perfect” shot — neutral background, better lighting, arms just so — and still feel uncertain afterward. That uncertainty isn’t a photography issue; it’s the very nature of typing yourself, because you’re both the observer and the subject simultaneously. The photo is just a tool to reduce variables, not a magic solution. Which makes me genuinely curious — when you finally felt confident about your Kibbe type, was it actually the photo that clicked something into place, or was it something else entirely?
Okay so I literally redid my photos three times before finding this post — wish I’d seen it sooner! I’m in Nashville and kept taking pics in my bathroom mirror with the worst lighting ever. The tip about wearing a plain fitted leotard or bodysuit is the one thing I’m actually going to implement this weekend. My previous attempts were all in flowy tops and I wonder if that’s why I kept second-guessing my results. Do the photos have to be taken outdoors, or is indoor natural light okay?
