How to Take Your Kibbe Body Type Quiz Photo: The Right Way

What would you like me to do with this draft?

Editor’s Note

Eight years of watching women agonize over their quiz photos, and the one mistake I keep seeing in the comments isn’t a bad angle or unflattering lighting — it’s that people treat this like a job application headshot instead of a body map. The photo is meant to reveal proportion, not perform attractiveness. I’ve noticed the women who nail their typing on the first try are almost always the ones who stopped caring how the photo “looked” and just… stood there. No sucking in, no strategic posing, no waiting for a good hair day. Which makes me genuinely curious — when you finally took your photo, what was the hardest habit to let go of?

  1. Okay so I literally just spent 20 minutes in my bathroom trying to get a decent photo for this and my husband kept walking into the frame lol. The lighting tip was huge — I’d been using the overhead light which apparently makes everything look weird? Going to try natural light by my window tomorrow morning. I’m in Seattle so “natural light” is basically a seasonal luxury but I’ll make it work. My big takeaway: swimsuit only, no exceptions, even if it feels awkward.
