I see a draft article about Kibbe body types. What would you like me to do with it?
Editor’s Note
Eight years of doing this, and the comment I still see weekly is someone insisting their favorite celebrity was “typed wrong” — which, honestly, is the most revealing thing about how people engage with Kibbe. The system was never designed to be a celebrity identification game; David Kibbe himself has said repeatedly that the types are tools for understanding your own relationship with line and proportion, not a sorting hat. When we use famous faces as examples, we inevitably flatten the nuance — you’re seeing a stylist’s interpretation of a body, not the body itself. So here’s what I keep turning over: if every example photo is already mediated through professional styling, are we actually learning the system, or just learning to recognize its costume?
Okay so I went down a full rabbit hole after reading this — I’ve been mistyping myself as a Soft Natural for *years* but looking at these photos I’m pretty sure I’m actually a Soft Dramatic?? The bone structure comparison finally clicked for me. I’m in Atlanta and literally reorganizing my closet this weekend to pull out anything with too much boho flair (rip to my fringe jacket lol). One question though — do accessories follow the same lines as clothing, or is that seperate?
